Idk what I should say after watching the video,but shortly I may say what came from my heart especially at the Silent Hill2's ending,and also never playing Silent Hill games once,unless shortly trying our Silent Hill on PS1 once...all I can say is that as a 19 year old,who didn't even finish school and then suddenly whose father just passed in January of 2024 from an Heart attack that also had his whole body get shit down in front of me and my younger sister before the Ambulance came,even if we called them to come the second he fell...I kinda hope that Silent Hill may call to me someday and that I might get a chance to see where I dailed my father as a son to possibly be a reason of his demize... I loved him so much that I never gave up on school even if it was ytortur to me as an immigrant like himself and especially never gave up till he passed,just to prove him right and to show him that his sacrefices for me and my younger sister weren't for nothing...alas as h3 passed and basically the heart of our 4,now 3 head family was torn from us...I had to leave school and the ability to go to an Uni someday and now I just got a work in retail to help my mofher and my sister stay afloat till someday we hopefully reesfablish ourselves to try and live someday... I'm sufring and I h8 it and hope it won't affect my damily,since we have noone except us 3...hipe my sister gets to finish schoolsince I couldn't and hope my mother finds a way to continue wanting to live,since she is the most affectes,since she loved my father so deeply that the fact of even being on work and then after having me and my sister calling her to come after we called the ambulance and being late,still haunts her,since she wanted that day to come home,make a coffe and tea for me and my father and my sister have us enjoy the day...and suddenly have it taken away from us 3,just broke her to the core and that's why I hope I may help her with my job and hopefully get to finish school to someday helo them both more than I can now... Idk,I'm just a nobody and am through writing this just trying to somehow make coping easier,but also I'd have wanted to thank you for making the video bc. idk it kinda made me want the Silent Hill to draw me in and somehow show me where I failed as a son to not be able to save my father from the loss...I'm lost in this forsaken world of ours tgat just takes everything and can't ever let tge unfortunate to even enjoy a second of peace...I'm kinda tired of this too...but Idk...I might just need to keep moving foreward

26:35 I'm someone with a chronic illness who spends a lot of time in hospitals & clinics. SH2 is very dear to me, bc I've been & am in Mary's position in real life, & I have compassion for the dynamics James & Mary were dealing with, as well as Maria. I agree with a comment I've seen on other SH2 pages, where someone mentioned they thought "born from a wish" could mean Maria was born from Mary's wish of being that vibrant healthy sensual partner FOR James, & for herself, rather than or in addition to reflecting James' wish. The well placement I'm unsure of, but it's extremely commonplace to sort patients out by hanging their "chart" --- relevant paper medical records --- right outside the patient area, sometimes at the bottom of the bed in crowded hospitals. The idea is the doctor or nurse pauses at the door, lifts the patient's chart off where it's hanging on the wall, & they take a minute looking over your records to remind themselves of your specific case before they knock/announce themselves & come in to see you. As a patient, you get used to hearing footsteps slow or stop outside your area & that shloop sound a folder makes when they pull the chart off the wall, & the thonk sound when it slides back into the holder. The same way the medical people are preparing themselves to see the patient, a lot of chronic patients who know the drill are mentally prepping themselves for whatever the doctor will tell them, or rehearsing what we want to say to them, cued by the sound. The tabbed folders & the placement of the red square on the wall around 26:35 suggest a patient's chart, to me. It's where all the patient information is "saved" too, like the reduction of your total humanity into "medical case" is encompassed in your "patient file". so I have to wonder if that's the inspiration for the red square --- patient charts soaked in blood, where all the suffering is "saved" for record-keeping.

I love viewing the town of Silent Hill as it’s own character. It adds an effective element of cosmic horror to the games, especially in 2.

I remember I watched my friend play Silent Hill 2 when I was too young but I already understood what happened. The premise of a dead wife calling you to a dreary town, and then meeting another woman who looks exactly like her there but acts differently freaked me out so bad. I beg him to change the game to something colorful. I went back to that game only in my 30s.

My state effect by things I can't control. Loosing my good days to misery with nothing to do to stop it. Why am I sad? Oh it's just your hormones. Shrug. Oh well. Also my family and their background made it so that talking about such things was associated with shame, not the inevitability of being human. These games called to me too.

The astrology puzzle wreaked havoc on my dumb child brain back in the day. It's the reason I didn't finish the game for months. Maybe years. Especially since I picked up a magazine from the grocery store that supposedly had a strategy guide for silent hills puzzles. And in that they gave a solution to the astrology puzzle that was incorrect.

They managed to ruin this game for me with the constant chat through the radio communication and Alyx's voiced quips. They should have stuck with the silent protagonist.

Erm silent hill is about spooky creatures that you get to fight with guns in epic battle

First time i played this i wasn't paying attention on the narrative and i thought it was just a puzzle game, like Tetris. Until i reached the escape part where i realized this is more than just a puzzle game after all. Imagine if you could somehow climb where the Tetris pieces come from and manage to reach the mechanism that produces them. This is exactly how Portal felt to me when i escaped the test chambers. It blew my mind.

I hope I save someone with this post. If you've never played silent hill 2 and never watched a video on it pause immediately. Stop watching and play it blind. Then come back. The game is nothing special once you know it. The experience you get from it manipulating your imagination into one of the games enemies along with the feeling of mystery as you push through is the reason people watch videos on it. To relive the first playthrough.

I guess Silent Hills are something like digital purgatories, a stage for us to perform the tragedy of life through death. And I agree with you, Silent Hill 2 is a masterpiece. I remember playing it with my cousin (who's also called James, coincidentally) in the early 2000's. It completely changed how I thought about videogames.

Avatar : The Last Airbender is my favourite show. I remember watching a few episodes at the time it was released but I never watched through the series from start to finish until I was in my 20’s. Toph is my favourite character because she makes jokes about her blindness in the same way I do about my wheelchair.
